I know many question the veracity of my claims, and that’s to be expected. Much if not all of this has not happened to those who cannot possible believe such things actually happen…or aren’t the product of a fuzzy mind waking up/going to sleep. Day dreaming—day drinking. But it’s not. Every thing I have written about I have truly experienced.
Or, as many are wont to say: “I believe you believe it happened….”
To wit:
I had another odd thing happen last night. I woke up around 1:30 or 2 a.m. again (my RLS was again nagging me), and felt around to see if my wife was in bed. As I reached over, I felt a hand, felt it move and weigh down the bed sheets and mattress. Still felt it continue to move slightly after I briefly touched her. Felt the warmth from her hand. Carefully, I removed myself from bed. My wife was working this morning and I didn’t want to disturb her by getting back into bed, so I left the room. I do this occasionally, because it’s much easier to slip out of bed than to slip back in.
But in the hallway, I noted the spare bedroom across the hallway had its door closed, as I closed our bedroom door. I laughed to myself, saying she’s again sleeping in two places at once (she’d once started sleeping in the other room then came into the bedroom, but closed the spare-room door when she left it)! In that spare room are most of my clothes, since I get up much earlier than her.
In any event, I quietly opened the door to check to see if she really was in there, and saw a “lump” on the bed!
Hmm, doesn’t make sense, I thought, because I felt her move in bed seconds ago. Felt the warmth of her hand. But, sure, it could just be blankets and all lumped together, but I didn’t want to chance it.
So, I backed quietly out and went downstairs to deal with my RLS. I figured I must have gotten something wrong, when I swore I felt Laura move her hand in our bed, but it wasn’t worth risking waking her up several hours before she needed to get up. No one likes that.
So…wherever she was…I left both rooms to closed doors and tried to deal with my RLS. It was kinda rough, but I managed to get a little sleep. I had an interesting dream before the RLS again woke me up. I try not to take additional RLS medication unless absolutely necessary, but I just had to, even though it was almost my normal 3:30 wake-up time.
Then, a few hours later, I heard her alarm go off in the spare bedroom. It seemed to go on forever, so maybe, I thought, she really was in our bedroom—when she turned it off.
The one in the spare bedroom.
Okay, I thought…whose hand had I felt in our bed last night?
